Charlotte Wells Curativity Creative Coaching Philosophy

MY PHILOSOPHY

I grew up surrounded by artists who had so much to offer, but shied away from the complexity which goes with being a professional creative. I saw the toll these unlived lives had on them and the people around them.

Life takes a whole new meaning when we allow in the vital energy brought by the right creative endeavour.

Resistance, fear, isolation and exposure - among other things - need to be dealt with.

But once strong foundations are in place, a healthy creative life is the most beautiful gift you could give yourself.

CASE STUDIES

I work with creatives from a broad range of backgrounds - from performers struggling with stage fright, to filmmakers stuck in a cycle of procrastination, all the way to entrepreneurs requiring support writing a pitch deck. I help them leave their comfort zone and express themselves at their highest level. I offer bespoke coaching and / or consulting packages, depending on clients’ needs. Here are some examples of people I’ve supported in the past.

Sam - Creative Entrepreneur

Sam had been an expert in his field for 20 years. In order to raise his public profile and create new revenue streams, he had been writing a book. He felt that something wasn’t quite right, though and that the book lacked the energy for which he was renowned. We worked together towards clarifying the theme and the desired impact of his book, and subsequently injected more of Sam’s personality. By the end of our work together, Sam had taken ownership of his message and could finally take pride in his book and talk about it with conviction and fluency.

Gemma - Writer

Gemma wanted to write a non-fiction book. She was filled with determination but had no idea where to start. She was considering a plethora of avenues and kept getting lost down rabbit holes. She came to me feeling frustrated, worried that she was running out of time. We worked together to determine the exact purpose of her book, its topic and scope, as well as its format. By the end of our work together, Gemma had an outline and a roadmap for her book. She was now engaged in interviewing subjects, using the questions we had workshopped together.

Alma - Singer

Alma was launching her career as a singer. She had the music side covered, but was overwhelmed at the thought of working with professionals on the visual aspect of launching an EP. We talked through the process of finding and working with a graphic designer and explored ways to work with a videographer - how to brief, what to expect, etc. I helped Alma translate her vision into a design brief so she could better communicate her ideas with her future collaborators. Articulating her ideas gave her confidence that her ideas were original and unique, and she was able to move forward feeling more in control.

Liv - Social Entrepreneur

Liv wanted to make a major career move from intrapreneur to social entrepreneur. We worked together on clarifying her motivation and her goals in life, gauged her opportunities and strengths. Liv was able to define her mission and step into her new professional persona. We workshopped her story so she could network with confidence and focus. I helped Liv word emails and prepare for presentations with potential investors and partners, by researching them and aligning her mission and potential with their needs.

Matt - YouTuber

Matt wanted to start a YouTube channel with high quality short documentaries. It was his first time as a videographer, so he wanted guidance with the film-making process. I supported him by walking him through the steps of production, providing feedback and helping him overcome procrastination and get back into flow.

Helen - Architect

Helen, an architect whose personal issues were getting in the way of her career, felt stuck with a sense of low self-worth. It was preventing her from pitching with confidence or even charging adequately for her work. Using Cognitive Behavioural Coaching, we worked on one specific block in each session. Using CBC strategies, Helen was able to establish and implement the next best steps to grow into the confident architect she wished to be.

Joanna - Online Course Creator

Joanna was working for a large corporate company but wanted to prepare her exit plan so she could leave her job and have more time with her family. She dreamt of working for herself so she could have a more balanced life, and felt her creativity calling. When we first spoke, she told me she had no idea what service she could provide. By the end of our sessions together, she was writing the curriculum for her first online course in arts and crafts - a passion she didn’t think could be a source of income.

Charlotte Wells Curativity Creative Coaching Background

MY BACKGROUND

I’m a blogger, documentary filmmaker and creative coach. I’ve lived between France and the UK most of my life, and work with clients all over the world.

I read Oriental Studies and Sociology at university, trained as a reporter camera-operator and did a postgrad in wildlife filmmaking. I later took a course on the video games industry, got a certification in Cognitive Behavioural Coaching and became an NLP for business practitioner.

For years, I pursued a career in the corporate world in parallel to working in documentary filmmaking, alternating between lecturing, researching and filming in Europe and Asia. I taught documentary film production at the University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh and have been a consultant on creative projects for over 17 years. A few years ago, I set up a start up designing cross-media products for personal growth.

Today, I write a blog called Curativity and host the podcast In the Company of Creatives.

HOW I WORK

I offer bespoke coaching over a period of 3 to 13 months, depending on your individual needs. I work with most of my clients over video call.

Finding the right coach for you is crucial. You should have a dynamic which supports you in your development goals. One size most certainly doesn’t fit all.

The same goes for me as a coach. I know I’m particularly good at supporting people at a certain stage in their journey and these are the people to whom I will commit.

Coaching is one of the most beautiful gifts you can give yourself. But it’s a real investment. In time and in commitment.

When I show up, I’m with you 100% and I ask that you are too.

It’s not always easy. Change often requires discomfort, if not pain. But having an ally by your side makes it so much easier.

It’s sometimes the difference between making change happen and tricking yourself into thinking you never even wanted change.

I only work with a small number of clients so I can focus on getting the best results. I make sure we get to know each other before entering into a contract.

If you think I would be the right coach for you, please fill in the form below. I will send you a questionnaire so I can get a sense of whether I could help you. If so, I’ll arrange a short call so we can determine whether we would work well together. This session is not binding in any way. You have absolutely no obligation to commit beyond the call.
